LAKE WINNEBAGO, Wis. (WSAU) - The Department of Natural Resources has a draft plan for a 20 million dollar expansion of High Cliff State Park in east-central Wisconsin.
About 417 thousand people visit that park every year. The expansion would add 18 hundred acres and more than double its size. Although completion of the project is expected to take several year, upgrading of infrastructure and facilities could start later this year. The park is located on the northeast shore of Lake Winnebago in Calumet County.
Almost half of the cost would be dedicated to buying land from more than 100 owners. A public meeting about the expansion plans will be held May 7th at the Sherwood Community Center.
