Giants 4, Brewers 2

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (WHBL) - The Milwaukee Brewers fell apart in the eighth inning Monday night and lost at San Francisco 4-2.  The game was tied at one when John Axford threw over catcher Jonathan Lucroy’s head on an intentional walk, putting runners at the corners.  Michael Gonzalez then came in and walked Brandon Belt to load the bases. The Brewers then called in rookie Rob Wooten, who gave up the game-winning hit when Jeff Franceour singled to left.  A two-run error by Jeff Bianchi at third capped the Giants’ three-run rally.  Juan Francisco hit a solo homer in the ninth. He also drove in Milwaukee’s other run in the seventh with a ground-rule double.  Hunter Pence walked three times and scored the Giants’ deciding run. The Crew’s late meltdown ruined a solid start by Tyler Thornburg, who gave up just one unearned run in six innings on seven hits, a pair of walks, and four strikeouts.  Axford took the loss - Milwaukee’s fourth in its last five games.  He’s now 5-5.  Santiago Castilla got the win in relief for San Francisco.  Sergio Romo got his 27th save. The Brewers and Giants will play again tonight at A-T-and-T Park.  Right-hander Wily Peralta will face Giants’ right-hander Matt Cain.  Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 8:40.
