MOSINEE, Wis. (WSAU) - A Mosinee teen is still missing after nearly two weeks.

17-year-old Jessica Kolz hasn’t been seen since at about 5:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10th at a Stevens Point strip mall near Church Street and Michigan Avenue.

Yesterday, Jessica’s information was released statewide on the Wisconsin Crime Alert Network and classified as “Missing and endangered.” That classification depends on who you ask.

Mosinee police officer Matt Wehn says several agencies are trying to locate Kolz, but he says they really don’t have anything to show she’s endangered. “We don’t have any evidence directly that shows that she’s endangered. The family assumes that. We’re operating under the assumption that anything is possible.”

Wehn says Mosinee Police officers have had assistance from Marathon County, Stevens Point Police, and the Everest Metro Police department, which followed up on several leads in their jurisdiction. “They’ve checked several addresses for us. They’ve identified people at certain trailers and trailer parks where there was information that somebody might have seen her there. They’ve checked with some known associates that I’m aware of of hers that she might be with, so we have done those types of things.”

Wehn says the important thing is to find Jessica Kolz and verify that she is OK. He says anyone with knowledge about her whereabouts, or even to call in to let people know she is safe would be the right thing to do. “If anybody has seen her or seen somebody that they think looks like her, I would have them contact the law enforcement agency they’re most comfortable with, whether that’s through the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department dispatch if they’re here in Marathon County or if they’re in Stevens Point, you can contact them, or the Mosinee Police Department, or in Lincoln County. There’s also Crimestoppers numbers available in each of those counties.” Crimestoppers can take anonymous calls, too.
