MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers are the NL Central Division Champions, clinching the title at American Family Field on Sunday with an 8-4 win over the New York Mets, completing a series sweep in the process.
Willy Adames belted a two-run homer and Eduardo Escobar recorded two RBI to lead Milwaukee. Adames and Lorenzo Cain each finished the game with two hits.
Freddy Peralta earned his 10th win of the season, allowing four runs in 5.1 innings. Brent Suter finished off the 6th inning and the trio of Aaron Ashby, Devin Williams, and Josh Hader finished the job over the final three innings.
It’s the third division title in franchise history, and Milwaukee is now guaranteed a spot in the NLDS, and will likely be the #2 seed in the bracket against the champion of the NL East.
With 101 wins, the San Francisco Giants are all but locked in as the #1 seed in the National League.
Milwaukee will enjoy an off day on Monday before starting a three-game series in St. Louis against the Cardinals, who have won 16 straight games. The Brewers were swept by the Cardinals in a four-game series last week at American Family Field.
