SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - It is unknown yet if flexible scheduling will be used in Sheboygan’s North and South High School next school year. The Sheboygan Area School District’s Board of Education spent over two hours Tuesday evening discussing the matter, which began with a presentation by a group of administrators, a teacher, a parent, and a student. Flexible scheduling would change the structure of the typical school day from periods with equal time to 15 minute pods that allow classes with unequal times based on subject, along with learning communities and homeroom. The presenting group said it would benefit students by allowing them to take more classes and increasing access to teachers during the school day. The board had a plethora of questions; including if students could handle this schedule and if it can be implemented by next school year. The board could make a decision on this possible switch during their next regular board meeting on January 28th.
