Driver To Say Goodbye Today

GREEN BAY, WI (WHBL) - Donald Driver will take his bows today, as hundreds of Green Bay Packers fans and dignitaries will attend his retirement ceremony. It starts at 11 at the Lambeau Field Atrium. More than a-thousand fans waited for hours in the cold last Friday to snap up free tickets at the Lambeau Box Office. They were gone in 13 minutes. The 38-year-old Driver leaves as the Packers’ all-time leader in catches and receiving yards over a 14-year N-F-L career, all with Green Bay. Driver first announced his retirement last Thursday, after the Packers stopped just short of saying they wouldn’t bring him back in 2013. He said it allows him to leave on his own terms. And while Driver said he could have played somewhere else this fall, he owes it to Packer Nation to retire after wearing only the storied green-and-gold. Marketing agent Brian Lammi indicates that Driver may be too busy to un-retire at training camp time, like Brett Favre did twice after leaving Green Bay. Lammi said he and Driver have had talks about broadcast opportunities in both sports and other entertainment – and there’s a good chance he’ll be hosting some kind of national show. Lammi calls it the beginning of Driver’s next career.
