GREEN BAY, WI (WHBL) - The Charles Woodson era in Green Bay is over. His agent, Carl Poston, is confirming to more media outlets that the 37-year-old All-Pro defensive back has been released by the Packers after seven seasons. The Packers figure that Woodson’s best days are behind him after 16 N-F-L seasons, including almost a decade with Oakland. Agent Poston said his client did not appear to be surprised – and he said it’s nothing more than a business deal. Woodson was to be paid six-and-a-half million dollars for next season, plus a two-and-a-half million dollar signing bonus at training camp. The Packers can clear about 10 million dollars in salary cap space. Meanwhile, Poston says Woodson intends to keep playing – and he’d like to go to a contender with a chance for a second Super Bowl ring.
