The Sheboygan City Council will convene as a Committee of the Whole tonight and could make a recommendation on a plan for Combined Dispatch. That plan which would merge city and county dispatch and put the dispatch center in the County Law Enforcement Center and under control of the county was approved by the county board on Tuesday. It must also get city approval to go forward. It would lower the tax levy for emergency dispatch in the city, but the city would have to chip in 2 and a half million dollars for remodeling and equipment. Aldermen will also discuss a proposal outlining the job responsibilities of the Mayor. The council has had numerous discussions in recent months over the Mayor’s salary and whether the job should be full or part-time. The meeting gets underway at 5:15 at city hall.
