The Milwaukee Brewers avoided arbitration with center fielder Carlos Gomez on Thursday, signing him to a one year contract worth a reported 4.3 million dollars. That salary is more than double what Gomez made last year when he hit .260 with 19 home runs, 51 runs batted in and 37 stolen bases. Milwaukee will likely head to arbitration hearings with three players, John Axford, Marco Estrada and Burke Badenhop. The Brewers have had only 2 arbitrations cases since 1997.
