SHEBOYGAN, Wis.(WHBL) - An Oshkosh man has been formally charged with 2nd degree reckless homicide in the stabbing death of a Sheboygan man last Saturday afternoon. 22 year old Michael Lemerande made his initial appearance by video conference in Sheboygan County Court this afternoon. According to the criminal complaint, Lemerande admitted to stabbing 41 year old Nicholas Lehrke during a fight outside of an apartment in the 1400 block of South 12th Street. Authorities said he told investigators that he just “lost it” when he saw Lehrke and two others fighting with his friend. He said he grabbed a kitchen knife and ran from the apartment and plunged the knife into Lehrke’s back. Lemerande is quoted in the criminal complaint as saying it was the scariest thing he had ever seen. “It looked like a waterfall of blood spraying out of his back.” Authorities said the knife had punctured a lung and Lehrke died at the hospital. Lemerande, who was arrested at the scene, was remanded to the county jail pending his next court appearance. He is facing up to 27 years in prison, if convicted.
