Fire at 1131 Oakland Avenue

SHEBOYGAN, Wis.(WHBL) - A house fire in the city of Sheboygan yesterday afternoon extensively damaged a two-story home and claimed the lives of two dogs.  The Fire Department reports the fire  in the home of Cory Letson at 1131 Oakland Avenue was discovered about 4:30.  Shift Commander Keith Risse said firefighters responded and found the first floor fully involved in flame.  Risse said they quickly knocked down the flames and went in after the dogs and got them out.  Efforts to resuscitate them failed.  The home sustained extensive smoke and fire damage estimated at $75,000.  Risse said the occupants are being assisted by the Red Cross.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
