OAKDALE, WI (WSAU) - Two semi trucks collided at 5:30 p.m. on the interstate Wednesday afternoon near Oakdale. Wisconsin State Patrol says a truck driven by Jonathon Andersen of Elk Grove Village, Illinois was leaving a non-emergency stop along Interstate 90 eastbound by milepost 51 when his rig was struck from behind by another truck driven by Khaled Ahmad Al-Kurdi of Conroe Texas.
Officers say Andersen was traveling about 20 miles per hour with the flashers on as he was leaving the shoulder entering the driving lane. Al-Kurdi was traveling about 60 miles per hour.
The impact separated the cab from the frame of Andersen’s tractor, but he was not hurt. Al-Kurdi is hospitalized at Tomah Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Both drivers were using seat belts. No alcohol is involved. State Patrol investigators are investigating the crash.
