Padres 5, Brewers 3

MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) - The Brewers lost their first game since the All-Star break Monday night, 5-3 to San Diego at Miller Park.  It was the Padres’ fourth win in their last 20 games, and only their second victory in their last 14 road contests. Brewers’ T-V announcer Brian Anderson said the Milwaukee players were making a strong response to the Ryan Braun suspension on the field, when they scored two runs in the first inning.  But any such momentum did not last long, as the Crew only got two hits after that. Milwaukee was up 3-1 in the sixth when San Diego scored four runs to take the lead for good.  Jesus Guzman hit a two-run double in that frame.  He also had a solo homer in the second which ended a team-record streak of 36 scoreless innings by Brewer pitching. Tom Gorzelanny took the loss, giving up five runs in five-and-two-thirds innings. He’s now 1-4.  Andrew Cashner got the win, giving up three runs in six frames for his first victory since June 11th.  He’s now 6-5.  Huston Street pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his 17th save. Jean Segura drove in two runs for Milwaukee with a double and a groundout. Jonathan Lucroy doubled for the Crew’s only other run, as the Brewers ended a four-game winning streak.  Milwaukee will host San Diego again tonight. Brewers’ right-hander Donovan Hand will face Padres’ right-hander Tyson Ross.  Pregame on WHBL starts at 6:35.
