MIAMI, FL (WHBL) - Yovani Gallardo threw eight shutout innings last night, as the Milwaukee Brewers topped the Marlins in Miami, 6-1 for their fourth straight victory. It was the second game in a row that Milwaukee’s bullpen only had to be used for one frame. Gallardo had his longest outing since August of 2011 as he gave up four hits, walked one, and struck out four – including his one-thousandth career strikeout in the seventh. The Crew scored four runs in the first three innings to put this one away. They tied a season-high with 16 hits, and went 6 for 16 with runners in scoring position. Norichika Aoki doubled and singled to extend his hitting streak to 11 games, and he extended a string of 71 plate appearances without striking out. Jonathan Lucroy went 4 for 5 with a pair of R-B-I’s. Carlos Gomez had three hits and drove in two and Rickie Weeks homered and singled twice. Miami’s only run came in the ninth, when Juan Pierre tripled and scored on a groundout. Giancarlo Stanton returned from the disabled list for Miami, and singled in four trips. Marlins’ third baseman Placido Polanco left in the sixth with a stiff lower back. Ricky Nolasco the loss, giving up four runs on a season-high 10 hits with five strikeouts in five and a third innings. He dropped to 3-7, and has not won in his last four outings. Gallardo improved to 4-0 lifetime against the Marlins, and is now 5-6 on the year. The Brewers will play in Miami again tonight. Right-hander Wily Peralta faces Marlins’ right-hander Jacob Turner.  Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 5:35.
