SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The new and improved Sheboygan Quarry will open for swimming this weekend. Mayor Mike Vandersteen made the announcement during Monday night’s city council meeting that the Quarry will open on Saturday, with a Verona firm managing it. In March the council approved an agreement to lease the Quarry beach area for a dollar in an effort to re-energize the facility and increase usage. The company will provide amusement equipment and lifeguards at no cost to the city. The beach will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. For those 3 to 9 years old it will cost $3.50 to swim. That goes down to $2.50 after 4 p.m. For those 10 and older, the cost is five dollars until 4pm - 4 dollars after. Swimmers can rent water bikes, paddle boats, kayaks and paddle boards. The area opposite the beach will be open for swimming at no charge.
