Astros 10, Brewers 1

by

HOUSTON, TX (WHBL) - The Milwaukee Brewers got crushed 10-1 by the Astros in Houston Tuesday night. The Crew again took sole possession of last place in the National League Central, as the fourth-place Chicago Cubs escaped the cellar with a win over Saint Louis. The Brewer game was tied at one when the Astros pulled away with four runs in the fifth inning. Marwin Gonzalez pulled off a perfect suicide squeeze, and Carlos Pena belted a three-run homer. Matt Dominguez hit a grand slam in the seventh for Houston’s final runs. Dominguez – the Number-eight hitter with a .230 batting average coming in – went 2 for 3 with five R-B-I’s, as the Astros won their fifth game in their last six. An infield hit by Scooter Gennett drove home Milwaukee’s only run. Juan Francisco had three of the Brewers’ eight hits, including a triple. Alfredo Figaro took the loss, giving up five runs – four earned – in four-and-a-third innings. He’s now 1-1. Jordan Lyles struck out five in seven innings, giving up one run on seven hits. He’s now 4-1, and has not lost since May 12th. The Brewers have now lost two straight, and three of their last four.  They’re at Houston again tonight.  Right-hander Kyle Lohse faces Astros’ left-hander Erik Bedard.  Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 6:35.
