SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - One suspect in the United One Credit Union robbery has been charged. 20-year-old Sean McCarthy of Milwaukee made his initial appearance in Sheboygan County Court Thursday morning. He faces one count of robbery of a financial institution for his alleged role in the May 16 incident at the credit union on Superior Avenue. According to the criminal complaint, McCarthy was identified on a Facebook post holding a large sum of cash two days after the robbery. Authorities arrested him at his residence June 18th.
Sheboygan Police Captain Jim Veeser said the investigation by local, state and FBI officials has also identified who most likely the second suspect is. He adds the person is incarcerated for a different unrelated offense, but has not been charged for the credit union incident as of yet. Veeser said the case is still under investigation.
McCarthy faces up to 40 years in prison for his charge.
