SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man will spend one year in prison for robbing Fischer’s Food and Liquor last January. 42-year-old Edward Giles received this sentence in Sheboygan County Court Monday.
Giles took around $300 plus beer and cigarettes from the store after he forced a clerk to the floor. He fled to Illinois, but authorities arrested him only hours after the incident.
In his sentence, Judge James Bolgert said while the actual robbery did not seem as aggravated as one description put it, prison time was needed given the defendant’s past criminal and heroin history and eight previous times in jail in Illinois. Bolgert did credit Giles with previous time served, and added two years of extended supervision following imprisonment.
