Jake Owen teamed up with the campers from the ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp Wednesday to record their original song "Livin' on Island Time." The recording session took place at Ocean Way Recording Studio in Nashville under the supervision of hit producer Ross Copperman .
The campers wrote "Livin' on Island Time" earlier this week with Jerrod Niemann , and Jake was actually impressed with their songwriting chops.
Says Jake, "It's pretty awesome actually. I said I was gonna be singing it for the rest of the day."
The ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp caters to people with William's Syndrome while providing music enrichment opportunities, and Jake is honored to be a part of the program.
"There's nothing that gives me the feeling of being able to help out and do things like this," Jake explains, "because this is something that these campers will remember for the rest of their life. It's something I will remember for the rest of my life."
The fun continued Wednesday night as the ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp took over Winner's near Music Row for a karaoke session with Love and Theft .
The campers will perform "Livin' on Island Time" with Jerrod Niemann at the Grand Ole Opry Friday night.
