SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Work on a mural under the Washington Avenue rail bridge is near completion. The mural, part of The Sheboygan Project put on by the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, was painted by artist Gabriel Specter.
His mural depicts a scene similar to what you may see underneath an above ground railway in his home town of New York City. He describes it as something far deeper and how it can symbolize how communities can be connected through infrastructure like roads and railways.
Gabriel said people are giving encouragement to him with horn honks as they drive by, and he hopes the mural will lead to people getting a spark of interest and could lead to broader interest and discussion.
Around 50 artworks will be part of The Sheboygan Project this summer. More details can be found at thesheboyganproject.org, or at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.
