VERONA, WI (WTAQ) - The death of a 93-year-old woman outside her assisted living facility in Verona has been ruled an accident.

An autopsy was performed Monday on Edna Bierderman.

She was found dead early last Friday near a sidewalk outside the Four Winds Lodge where she lived.

Verona Police said Bierderman apparently walked out of the building on her own, and she succumbed to the cold. It was not clear exactly when she was last seen alive.

The preliminary cause of death is exposure due to hypothermia.

The state Health Services Department has also been investigating the incident.
