Milltown man has sentencing date moved up to June 7

MILLTOWN, WI (WTAQ) - A northwest Wisconsin man will find out sooner than expected how long he’ll go to prison for brutally killing his fiancée.

45-year-old Scott Youngmark of Milltown will be sentenced June 7th instead of his original date of June 26th in Polk County. He struck a plea deal last month.

Youngmark avoided a possible life prison term by pleading guilty to a reduced charge of second-degree intentional homicide. He faces up to 40 years behind bars, with up to 20 years of extended supervision.

Authorities said 47-year-old Kari Roberts suffered numerous blunt and sharp injuries when she was beaten to death in her Milltown apartment last December 1st.

Police arrested Youngmark in his mother’s apartment a short time later.

Youngmark has a long criminal history in both Wisconsin and Minnesota. He was freed from jail just two weeks before the murder, after posting a $500 bond in a bail jumping case.
