Brewers Lose

CINCINNATI, OH (WHBL) - Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips singled in a run, hit a home run and made a run-saving play to lead his team to a 4-3 win over Milwaukee Friday night. Brewers ace Yovani Gallardo suffered through serious control problems in taking the loss – the seventh in the last eight games for Milwaukee. Jean Segura and Ryan Braun hit the ball out of Great American Ball Park, but the Reds still managed to win for the 14th time in 20 home games. That’s the most home wins in Major League Baseball. Alfred Simon picked up the win in relief and Aroldis Chapman got save number eight. Neither starter lasted more than four innings, but Cincinnati’s bullpen was stronger. Brewers pitchers handed out nine walks. Braun’s homer extending his hitting streak to 11 games in a row.  Game two of the weekend series takes place this afternoon.  Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 2:35.
