FOND DU LAC, WI (WHBL) - The 47-year-old Fond du Lac man who drove up on a grassy area off Winnebago Drive and struck a 46-year-old Fond du Lac woman may have been asleep at the wheel after smoking marijuana and drinking heavily the night before. Bond was set at $25,000 cash when Aarron Schmitz Sr. was charged in Fond du Lac County Court Friday. In reviewing the complaint to the judge, District Attorney Eric Toney said Schmitz had allegedly smoked three large marijuana cigarettes and drank a liter of Kessler’s whiskey the night before the accident and may have fallen asleep at the wheel. He hit Traci Luther Tuesday night. Luther is still in critical condition at the Theda Clark Regional Medical Center. She was out for a walk when she was struck.
