DUNN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) - A truck driver from suburban Chicago has pleaded guilty to causing an Interstate crash in western Wisconsin that killed another trucker.

23-year-old Destry Wilson of Great Lakes Illinois was convicted of felony negligent homicide. Four other charges were dropped in a plea deal.

According to prosecutors, Wilson parked his rig along Interstate 94 without the proper lighting on a July night last year. Another semi came along and slammed into Wilson’s truck.

The rig driven by 43-year-old Brian Paglusch of Paynesville Minnesota was engulfed in flames.

Wilson was charged after an autopsy showed that Paglusch died from the fire, and not the crash itself.

The Dunn County district attorney says he’ll ask the judge for probation, and a jail term of no more than six months.

Wilson will be sentenced on August 1st.
