SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A number of observances took place across the area in honor of Veterans Day to thank those who have served in the nation's military.
Veterans, students and the general public turned out Monday morning in the Acuity Fieldhouse at Sheboygan North High School. The observance included the reading of the names of veterans who have given their lives and also honored POW’s and those missing in action.
Mike Liebelt of the Retired Enlisted Association - one of the featured speakers, said it is important to remember all veterans wherever they may live and to continue to support the United States with cooperation between one another.
Also speaking was Sheboygan Area School District Superintendent Joe Sheehan, who said the rights and privileges we have in this country are due to the actions from our military veterans and those who support them.
The hour and a half program ended with the rifle volley and taps to honor the veterans who have given their lives.
Additional observances in Sheboygan County took place in Elkhart Lake, Plymouth and Oostburg.
