SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Area state Senator Joe Leibham is not happy with the federal government shutdown. On Sheboygan’s Morning News Monday he called it frustrating and blames both parties for focusing on pettiness instead of serving the people they represent. He especially is upset with how the federal government has not passed a budget in the past several years.
As for what impact this shutdown will have on Wisconsin, Leibham said budgets under the Walker governorship have been created to cover uncertainty of federal funding. The last two budgets have plans in place to ensure services like transportation repairs and Medicare are still running.
Leibham said examples of this are the continued operations of state parks that get federal funding and not creating their own health exchanges under the Affordable Care Act.
