Walker calls special session of Legislature

MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) - Wisconsin’s Governor has called for a special session of the Legislature.  Scott Walker has announced a 100-million dollar property tax relief plan he would like immediate action on.

During a noon hour press conference Thursday, Walker was joined by Senator Alberta Darling and Assembly Speaker Robin Vos to announce the plan.  He says their “tough, but prudent decisions” have allowed them to invest 100- million in additional property tax relief for hardworking families, farmers, and seniors.

Walker says the typical homeowner will save about $680 over four years under this plan.

The special session will also deal with two other initiatives from the Governor:  Tax Incremental Districts for municipalities and Historic Preservation Tax Credits.

Walker says when his term is finished in 2015, property taxes on a median-valued home will be less than when he took office.
