RANDOM LAKE, WI (WHBL) - The computer tablets are back in the Random Lake School District after an employee stole hundreds of them valued at more than $180,000 just before the start of the school year. The stolen tablets have been replaced and are up and running.
This is the second school year that every Random Lake Elementary student has access to their own tablet. Second grade teacher Susie Goneau said it has been incorporated in most parts of the school day, from daily reading assignments to math problems to using apps for science and social studies homework.
Goneau said the transition to tablet use in the classroom took some time, but it has been a great way to get her students more engaged in learning, adding that she has also learned how to use her own device from how students use them.
She added that the technology allows students to access class work to show their family at home and interact with other schools across the country.
