SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - For six years, SVA has showcased the work of local artists through monthly Final Fridays and other events. “We give folks a chance to view and purchase a huge variety of painting, photography, sculpture, jewelry, and ceramics” says Erico Ortiz, Curator of this season’s events. Now Sheboygan Visual Artists will give people a chance to make their own artwork at a new 2,000 square foot facility they call the SVA Art Factory. “Anyone can make art” claims Kay Jelinek, President of SVA. “We’ll supply the messy place, the artsy materials, and some friendly guidance. We’ll never tell you to ‘stay within the lines’.” Workshops and classes – open to the public and led by accomplished artists – already have begun. But the grand opening of the Art Factory at 1024 North 12th Street will be on Friday October 25th from 6 – 10 pm, as the feature of SVA’s monthly Final Friday celebration. Instructors will offer free hands-on “sampler” previews of screen printing, alternative photography, and contemporary painting concepts. Art made at previous workshops will be on display. A drawing will award discount coupons for future workshops and classes.
