SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Residents of the Sheboygan Area School District will have their chance to voice their opinion regarding this school year’s budget this evening. A special board of education meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the board’s meeting room in the Administration Offices. A presentation on the preliminary budget will be given first, followed by public comments. Back in June district administrators said the budget would be balanced through the use of pay freezes, cuts to staff size, and the closing of Washington Elementary. This did not include an increase in general state aid allocated in the latest state budget. The tax rate would most likely be lower thanks to additional state funding lessening the burden on local taxpayers. The budget is expected to be approved by the board during their monthly meeting next week.
