Parole denied for Ruby Klokow

SHEBOYGAN, WI (WTAQ) - A 77-year-old woman convicted in February of killing her baby daughter 56 years earlier has been rejected for parole.

Ruby Klokow of Sheboygan was sentenced in May to 10 years in prison, for throwing her infant daughter Jeaneen to her living room floor in 1957 in a fit of anger.

Under the law from that time, Klokow became eligible for parole in six months after her murder conviction.

Sheboygan County District Attorney Joe DeCecco said Wednesday that Klokow has been denied. She can try again in two years.

Klokow was not charged until 2011, after her son James went to police and reported a pattern of child abuse involving his mother.

As a result, authorities investigated the death of another of Klokow's sons -- Scott, who died as a baby in 1964.

Investigators said they could not find enough evidence to make a conviction stick in that case.
