Thompson Square plays their last show on Luke Bryan 's Dirt Road Diaries tour this weekend in Florida, and it may be the last time the husband-and-wife duo opens for another act. Instead of jumping on another major tour, Thompson Square has decided to hit the road on their own in 2014.
The duo's Keifer Thompson says, "We want to do some stuff on our own. You know, do our own thing and do our own songs our own way and have our own time limits and everything else. So, it's gonna be really exciting."
Since they aren't tied to someone else's tour schedule, Thompson Square finally has the time to make good on a promise they made themselves years ago. They'll head out on their first USO tour in March 2014.
"Even before we got a record deal, we were interested in going overseas and playing for the troops because my dad was a veteran. Keifer's dad is a veteran," explains Shawna Thompson . "It was something that was really important to us. So, this year we have the time to do it."
Thompson Square will play shows for the troops in Japan and Australia on their USO tour.
