Reactions from this year's CMA Awards nominees continue to roll in. Here's the latest batch:
Kacey Musgraves' name was called repeatedly Tuesday morning when the CMA Awards nominees were announced on ABC's Good Morning America , but Kacey was not in front of the TV to watch it. She was still in bed after a fun night out with her pals the night before when her producer, Shane McAnally , called her with the big news.
Kacey says with a laugh," I was really hungover. I was laying in my bed, and I knew that nominations were coming out, but I didn't know what to expect or whatever. I didn't have my alarm set to check on anything."
The news of her leading six CMA nominations came one year to the day Kacey's debut hit, "Merry Go 'Round," went to radio. In the time since then, Kacey has performed on several awards shows, and played for more than a million fans on Kenny Chesney 's No Shoes Nation tour over the summer.
She says, "I've been on some amazing tours and gotten to see a lot of the world. You know, radio's been really great to me. I just feel very embraced by country, and I think that's more than I could ask for."
Darius Rucker 's hit "Wagon Wheel" was nominated for CMA Song of the Year, an award that goes to the songwriters. Ketch Secor of the band Old Crow Medicine Show wrote that song based on a song sketch by rock icon Bob Dylan , giving Dylan his first nomination at the CMA Awards. Darius says he hasn't gotten a call from Bob Dylan about the good news just yet.
"I'm keeping my phone on just in case he calls me," Darius says with a laugh. "It's pretty cool that happened. I'm such a Dylan fan, and I'm really happy for him."
Darius is even more excited for his pal Ketch's nomination after Old Crow Medicine Show first released the song nearly a decade ago.
Darius says of Ketch, "He's such a great songwriter, and it's great to see that song, after all these years finally getting noticed, you know."
Kelly Clarkson earned her second CMA Female Vocalist of the Year nomination this week. In a YouTube video posted Wednesday, Kelly expressed her gratitude saying, "I’m just super stoked everybody thought of me for the voting process. So, thank you country music. I hope you like the music we're gonna keep putting out."
The 47th Annual CMA Awards broadcast live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on ABC Wednesday, November 6 at 8 p.m. ET. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood return as hosts.
