Brewers 7, Cubs 0

MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) - Tyler Thornburg gave up just two hits in six shutout innings Wednesday night, as the Milwaukee Brewers blanked the Chicago Cubs 7-0 at Miller Park.  The Brewers did most of their damage in the first inning, when they scored five times.  Sean Halton capped off the rally with his first career grand slam.  Khris Davis added a solo homer, and scored twice.  Aramis Ramirez and Carlos Gomez each drove in a run for the Crew, which is now 13-5 against the Cubs this season.  Thornburg has gone exactly six innings in each of his six starts -- and all six have been quality starts in which he gave up three runs or fewer each time.  He struck out four and walked two last night, as he held his opponents scoreless for a second straight outing and improved his record to 3-1.  Chris Rusin took the loss, giving up six runs in four innings.  Brewers' All-Star shortstop Jean Segura left after just one inning with a strained right hamstring.  He's listed as day-to-day.  The Brewers have now won four straight.  The last-place Cubs have lost five in a row and seven of eight.  Chicago is now five-and-a-half games behind next-to-last Milwaukee in the National League Central.  The two teams will wrap up their four-game series this afternoon at Miller Park.  Right-hander Kyle Lohse faces Cubs' right-hander Jake Arrieta.  Pregame coverage on WHBL gets underway at 12:35.
