MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – Corbin Burnes struck out 10 over six shutout innings as the Milwaukee Brewers blasted the Chicago Cubs 7-0 in Milwaukee on Wednesday afternoon. Burnes also hit a two-run single to cap a four-run sixth inning.
Travis Shaw homered and drove in two for the Crew, who took two-of-three in the series.
Jason Heyward had two of the four hits for the Cubs, who slipped to 5-7 on the season. Jake Arrieta allowed three runs over five frames as he fell to 2-1 with the loss.
The Brewers are playing without two of their starting outfielders. They put Lorenzo Cain on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left quad strain. Cain departed after two innings Tuesday in the 3-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs. Christian Yelich sat out his third straight game Wednesday with a sore back.
Thursday is a day off for the Brewers. They’ll open up a three-game weekend series at American Family Field against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night.
