Worthy traded to Patriots

(WNFL)- After two injury-plagued seasons in Green Bay, defensive tackle Jerel Worthy will apparently get a fresh start in New England. Worthy's agent says the Packers will trade the interior lineman from Michigan State to the Patriots, as soon as he passes a physical with that team. Media reports say Green Bay will get a conditional draft pick in return. Worthy had 2.5 sacks in his rookie year before tearing an ACL knee ligament in the final regular season game at Minnesota. Last year, he only played in two games and had one tackle. The Packers still have a plethora of defensive linemen which include starters BJ Raji, Mike Daniels, and Datone Jones -- as well as Josh Boyd and Mike Pennel. Veteran Letroy Guion has missed all of Training Camp so far with a hamstring injury. Speaking of hamstrings, Packers' receiver Jordy Nelson returned to practice on a limited basis yesterday, after missing last Saturday night's exhibition loss at Tennessee with a bad hammie. Nelson says he's not sure about his prognosis at the moment, but things look good. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is gearing up for his pre-season debut on Saturday afternoon at Saint Louis. He's expected to get the most playing time among the four quarterbacks in camp, although he'll mostly have limited snaps.
