SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The Ad Hoc Committee, which was appointed to look into the reporting of election results in Sheboygan County, met for the first time Friday morning, but only briefly. County Administrator Adam Payne said that some of the key people on the committee chose not to attend because of questions about whether or not the meeting should be open to the public. He said the next meeting - next Thursday - will be posted as an open meeting. Payne had appointed the committee after Sheboygan County primary election results on August 12th took until early the next morning to be posted. During the meeting, he clarified media reports that election night delays were caused by a computer glitch or software problems. He said that based on internal discussions. it's been determined that the decision to have a single point of data entry is what caused the delay. Payne had raised concerns about County Clerk Jon Dolson’s performance and said the county had to do better.
