SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The New Holstein volunteer firefighter charged with setting two fires in the Town of Russell this month will be examined to see if he is mentally capable to stand trial.
22 year old Jacob Ausloos' attorney Christina Petros made the compentency evaulation request prior to a scheduled preliminary hearing in Sheboygan County Court Friday. Her request came after having conversations with Ausloos and his family regarding his mental health. With no objection from the state, Judge Angela Sutkiewicz allowed it. No future court date has been set.
Ausloos is accussed of setting fire to St Paul's Christian Church on County J August 5 and a barn on County H August 6. The criminal complaint said he set the church fire because he did not like the church, and the barn fire because he was bored.
