SAN FRANCISCO, CA (WHBL) - A few weeks ago there were very few takers when the Boston Red Sox were trying to trade Jake Peavy. That might have been a mistake. Peavy took a no-hitter against the Milwaukee Brewers into the eighth inning and picked up the win in a 3-1 Giants victory. Brewers first baseman Mark Reynolds blooped a single into right to break up the no-hitter and Milwaukee did score a run in the ninth, but the Giants still held on for an important win. Peavy went seven-and-two-thirds innings, allowing just the one hit. Mike Fiers took the loss for Milwaukee despite a strong seven-inning performance. The Giants scored all three of their runs in the fourth inning. The loss leaves Milwaukee one game ahead of St. Louis in the tightly-packed National League Central Division race. Pittsburgh is two games out. Kyle Lohse goes for the Brewers Sunday afternoon at San Francisco. Madison Bumgarner will pitch for the Giants. Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 2:30.
