HOUSTON, TX (WHBL) - The L-S-U Tigers rallied for two fourth-quarter touchdowns to come from behind and edge Wisconsin, 28-24 in the season opener Saturday night at N-R-G Stadium in Houston. The Badgers defense had stifled the Southeastern Conference powerhouse for the first three periods and Wisconsin was leading at one point, 24-7. Then, Tiger running back Kenny Hilliard took over. He carried L-S-U on a game-winning, fourth-quarter drive, racing through a hole on the right side of the line from 28 yards out for the winning points. An interception of a Tanner McEvoy pass set the Tigers up. L-S-U has won 46 consecutive non-conference games – best in the nation. Melvin Gordon carried the ball 17 times for 138 yards and a score for the Badgers. The story of the game came in the passing game, as L-S-U’s Anthony Jennings threw for 238 yards and two scores, while McEvoy hit just 8 of 24 passes for 50 yards and two interceptions. Western Illinois is next for the Badgers, coming to Camp Randall Stadium for an 11 a-m kickoff next Saturday.
