SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Wauwatosa man has been charged for robbing a Cousins Subs in Sheboygan nearly three years ago.
20 year old Vincent Schmitt faces an armed robbery felony for stealing hundreds of dollars from the South Business Drive restaurant in March of 2011. The criminal complaint states the robber showed a handgun, got money from a cash register and safe, and left on foot.
Last month, Sheboygan Police were tipped to Schmitt’s involvement when investigating a different incident. When asked about the crime, Schmitt said he was in a low point in his life due to drug and marijuana use and a former employee gave him the idea to rob the restaurant in hopes of starting a marijuana selling business.
He now faces up to forty years in prison if found guilty.
Also charged as a party to the crime is 20 year old Zackary Runion of Menasha. He assisted Schmitt by driving him to and from the store, plus providing an air soft rifle for Schmitt to display during the robbery.
