Garth Brooks , Reba , Wynonna , Trisha Yearwood , David Nail , Chris Young , Alabama and Eli Young Band were among the stars honoring radio veteran Bob Kingsley Monday night in Nashville. The event, held on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry House, recognized Bob's 40 years as host of his syndicated country countdown show.

Garth performed "The Dance" in Bob's honor and recalled the first time they met at the annual Country Radio Seminar in Music City back in 1989. Says Garth, "'Much Too Young' had been out for a little while. He was very sweet, and the thing I remember is -- I just saw him in Vegas, three months ago? No different how he treated me then as he treated me just in Vegas. Same guy."

Trisha, who sang "The Song Remembers When," spoke glowingly of Bob's passion for the country format.

"He knows his stuff," Trisha says. "He found a way to put his passion for music to work, and he's been a great friend to us."

Eli Young Band front man Mike Eli grew up listening to Bob's countdown on Sundays after getting out of church. Now Mike regularly hears his music on the show.

He says, "It's a big thing to hear Bob say the name of your band and say the name of your song on the radio. To be able to be included in such a huge group of artists, you know, you've got huge names here. So, we're just glad we got invited!"

David Nail recently heard Bob announce his latest single, "Whatever She's Got," as the #1 country song in America. David was thrilled to perform that song and "The Sound of a Million Dreams" at the event.

"It just puts things in perspective," David says. "It was a very flattering moment, and one of the coolest things I've ever done."

Lee Ann Womack , Martina McBride , Tanya Tucker , Thomas Rhett , Jack Ingram and Steve Wariner were among the other performers singing in honor of Bob Kingsley. Proceeds from the event benefit the Opry Trust Fund to help musicians and artists in time of need.
