SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Travel this Saturday should be better that what it was last evening and overnight. Rain/freezing rain fell across the area for several hours, allowing black ice to form and creating treacherous travel conditions.
At one point last evening the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department recommended to motorists to stay off all county roads as they were handling over 20 accidents att the same time. Sgt. Jim Gottsacker said this morning the dispatch center was working nonstop for 12 straight hours taking calls. Fortunately, no major injuries were reported with the 73 service calls they handled.
Road crews have been out treating roadways and continue to do so. Main roadways and sidewalks in the county should be fine traveling today, but caution is advised for those that are lesser traveled and have not been treated yet.
