Leibham: Lower state revenues than projected not a big concern

SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - State Senator Joe Leibham of Sheboygan says he is not overly concerned that revenue collections are down halfway through the state’s current biannual budget cycle.  Speaking on Sheboygan’s Morning News Monday, he said collections are less than one percent from projections, and Governor Scott Walker’s administration is prepared with contingency plans in cases like this.

Leibham, a member of the state Joint Finance Committee, says there is the option of dipping into the state's rainy day fund to cover any budget shortfalls next year.  However, he is confident that will not be needed as he believes revenues will increase and allow the state to finish the biennium with at least a balanced budget.
