MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) -- The fearless elderly lady that refused to be robbed in her Marshfield grocery store has died. 97-year-old Marge Wolf just retired in December, after running Wolf’s Grocery Store for over 50 years.
Marge Wolf became known around the world as the storekeeper that told 17-year-old Cordell Ellingson he could have all the Tootsie Rolls he wanted, but she refused to let him rob her at knifepoint last July.
Wolf passed away Friday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, with her family present. Visitation and the funeral mass will be Tuesday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield at 9 o’clock and 10:30, respectively. Rembs Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
The former grocery store is going to be remodelled into apartments.
Ellingson is still awaiting trial for the attempted robbery. That trial has been delayed until this summer.
