SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - County Road LS between Sheboygan and Cleveland is closer to being moved to the west. The Sheboygan county board unanimously voted Tuesday evening to approve designating Dairyland Drive as the new County LS.
The move was made because part of the current LS - north of Whistling Straits - is in danger of falling into Lake Michigan. The move would return the current LS, also named Lakeshore Road, to its appropriate city, village and town control.
County Administrator Adam Payne said the cost for covering the transition and a new road segment on Lakeshore Road is $8 million but, thanks to the work of local and state legislators and government officials, half of that cost will be covered by the state.
The state stills needs to approve the designation before it can take effect.
