MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) - The Badgers overcame a shaky start Thursday against American University, but finished strong and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Wisconsin closed out the first half on a 22-5 run and remained dominant the rest of the game, outscoring the Eagles 43-13. The 75-35 rout was the largest margin of victory ever for Wisconsin in an NCAA tournament game. Trey Jackson led the Badgers with 18 points and Ben Brust added 17 of his own. The Badgers will face Oregon on Saturday.Meanwhile, Darrun Hilliard had 16 points and Villanova pulled away in the second half Thursday night to beat UW-Milwaukee 73-53 Thursday night in the NCAA Tournament. The second-seeded Wildcats outscored the 15th-seeded Panthers 46-30 after the break. Austin Arians scored 17 points to lead Milwaukee. Villanova advances in the East Region to face seventh-seeded Connecticut on Saturday.
