SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The City of Sheboygan will hold its annual Memorial Day observances on Monday.  This year’s events are put on by a local VFW post and assisted with a request from Mayor Mike Vandersteen for monetary donations.  It begins with a parade at 9 a.m.; working north on 8th Street from Center Avenue, then turning west on Superior, then south on 9th Street to Fountain Park.  City police are reminding parade goers that the saving of spots along the parade route begins at 5 a.m.  Following the parade, a program will be held at 10 a.m. at Fountain Park with John Scocos, secretary of Wisconsin’s Veterans Affairs department, this year’s feature speaker.  Several other communities in Sheboygan County are holding Memorial Day observances and events this Monday.  In Plymouth, a parade will begin at 10 a.m. in the downtown area.  That will be followed by a program at Union Cemetery.  Howards Grove will also have their parade at 10 a.m. with a ceremony at Memorial Park.  Cascade will have their program and a brat fry at 10 a.m. at Lions Hall with guest speaker Dan LeMahieu.  Finally, Hingham will have their annual holiday walk/run at 8:30, followed by a parade at 10:30 and a service at Hingham Cemetery after that.
