SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The pace of total COVID-19 cases in Sheboygan County paints a curve that is a fairly slow, steady progression as viewed on the County’s Coronavirus Dashboard.

Another positive case was added in the total count, now at 40. 11 cases are considered active while 27 have recovered. Three of the active cases remain hospitalized. Of the 11 active cases, 4 can be connected with the Sunny Ridge outbreak. 13 of those involved have now recovered. Persons testing negative for the coronavirus now number 627.
Statewide, the total increased by 170 positive cases to 4,045.
As Governor Evers yesterday extended his “Safer at Home” order to May 26th – the day after Memorial Day – national, state and local health officials all echoed the same message: stay vigilant, stay home, stay away from each other and wash your hands regularly.
Evers’ order was not met with universal acceptance. Many businesses… already strained under the restrictions imposed by Executive Order so as to control the spread of the virus…and political opponents, are among those taking issue with the lengthy extension.
Sheboygan County Public Health, in its daily release, said that before Safer at Home can be lifted, more testing and more robust public health measures must be in place.
“These steps will help us reduce the risk of a second wave of the virus. If we open up too soon, we risk overwhelming our hospitals and requiring more drastic physical distancing measures again.”
They concluded: “We will get through this. With all of us doing our part by staying Safer at Home, we will flatten the curve and save lives.”
