(WHBL) – With no end in sight to the coronavirus pandemic, administrators of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay have announced a drive-through experience for graduating seniors on Saturday, August 22nd. Sheboygan is a satellite campus of UW-GB.
Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Campus Climate, Gail Sims-Aubert said that one lesson learned from the global pandemic is that they must remain flexible enough to accommodate best practices concerning the health and wellness of all, and that this guided their decision.
Eligible seniors were mailed their diplomas already, and now received an email detailing the commencement plans, informing them that they’ll be presented with a Graduation Care Package, and all will have an opportunity for a professional portrait.
Sims-Aubert said that administrators shared the disappointment of students and families in not being able to safely gather as planned, but hoped that by reinventing graduation a proper celebration can still be observed.
